The Major (Department) of Financial Accounting was established in 1997 (affiliated to the school of management of Jilin University of Technology at that time) and began to enroll undergraduates in accounting the same year. Master programs of accounting (academic master) started in 2000, and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) programs started in 2008 with the approval of the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council. In 2009, a doctor’s program in accounting was initiated under the first-level discipline of business administration, and student enrolment in accounting started from 2009 onwards.

Despite of the short history of the department, it has developed rapidly, thanks to the continuous strong demand for high-end accounting talents. At present, this major has a strong faculty and enjoys high academic reputation in Jilin province and beyond. 70% of our teachers have studied in famous universities in the United States, Japan and other countries. 90% of them have doctor's degrees from leading universities in China. Many teachers used to work as chief financial officer or vice president of finance in companies. Such profound academic credentials, practical experience and broad international background enable our teachers to use sophisticated teaching modes to provide students with advanced accounting knowledge system.

Our department now has 11 teachers, of whom 5 are professors and 3 are doctoral tutors.
