Meeting Venue

At 14:00 on the afternoon of 26 October 2019, the kick-off meeting of the Changchun Digital Youth Talent Innovation Competition was held at the Dingxin Auditorium in the Qianwei South Campus of Jilin University. Under the guidance of Jilin Provincial Administration of Government Services and Digital Construction, the meeting was co-sponsored by the Organization Department of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, CPC Changchun Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, the School of Management of Jilin University and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Institute at Jilin University, organized by the Research Center of Information and Information Management at Jilin University (hereinafter as “CIIM”) with the support of Jilin Xiangyun Information Technology Co,. Ltd. and DBeHualu Information Technology Co., Ltd.

 

Leaders of the above organizations attended the launch ceremony and representatives of the Jury Committee of the competition presented in the kick-off meeting.

Yang Xiaobing, Director of Changchun Municipal Office of the Leading Group of Talents Work, introduced the “Digital Changchun” project for gathering, discovering and cultivating digital talents in Internet and big data proposed in the Five-Year Plan for the Construction of High-level Talents of Changchun City by Jilin provincial and Changchun municipal party committees in the beginning of this year. Changchun Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government have also introduced a series of measures including the 20 New Pieces of Talent Policy, 10,000 Talents Program, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program to Attract Jilin Talents back to Jilin”, and “Encouraging University Graduates to Start Business in Changchun” to attract and retain talents. Aiming at selecting and cultivating talents, the competition has gained wide support and attention from the officials and leaders of various public sectors, and also from universities and enterprises, in hope that more young talents will stand out from it and contribute to the building of a “Digital Changchun”.

According to Wang Xiwei, Associate Dean of the School of Management of Jilin University, software product design talents are greatly needed in the era of “Internet Plus”, making it an urgent task to enhance the cultivation of product design talents. Therefore, the School of Management and CIIM voluntarily takes on this task by hosting digital competitions, which have gained recognition and support from provincial and municipal government departments. This competition also saw an active engagement of Universities in Changchun: the number of applicants was 566 (in 7 groups), reaching a record high. It is believed that this competition will advance the development of the digital economy in Changchun.

Ding Qiang, Vice General Manager of Jilin Xiangyun Information Technology Co., Ltd. shared on the meeting that great companies can’t do without excellent employees. The competition aims at cultivating, discovering, attracting and recommending digital talents, which is in line with Xiangyun’s human resource management strategy of “Attracting Talents, Cultivating Talents, Making Good Use of Talents and Treating Talents Well”. More digital talents are welcomed to join Xiangyun and take active part in digital economy and innovation entrepreneurship and the building of regional digital economy in Northeast Asia to promote the comprehensive revitalization of the old industrial base of Changchun and the development of a “Digital Jilin”.

Wang Jiyuan, General Manager of DBeHualu Information Technology Co., Ltd., said in his speech that the digital economy is the fourth industrial revolution, a brand-new era after the agricultural economy and the industrial economy. Committed to building digital economy infrastructure with data, DBeHualu has grown rapidly with the support of various provincial and municipal government departments, it is also in urgent need of young digital talents with knowledge, ambition and perseverance. It is expected that a batch of talents with potential in scientific research and spirit of innovation to be discovered and cultivated through the competition can promote the popularization and development of digital technology education in Jilin.

A total number of 566 applicants divided in 147 groups registered for the competition, among which, 154 are from Changchun University of Technology, 127 are from Jilin University, 81 from Jilin Agricultural University, 73 from Changchun University of Science and Technology, 43 from Changchun Institute of Technology, 38 from Jilin Jianzhu University and 25 from Northeast Normal University.

Upon the kick-off ceremony, the first 2-day training of the competition also started. Director Chen Taibo will give instructions to applicants. The second training will be held at the Dingxin Auditorium of Jilin University and the conference hall of Xiangyun company on 2 November and 3 November respectively.
