The international alliance formed by top information institutes, iSchools, held its AP-IS Biz meeting online on December 2, 2020. The meeting, which was hosted by Seoul National University, was attended by experts from all over the world, including China, ROK, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and Malaysia. Professor Li Beiwei, Dean of the School of Management, Jilin University attended the meeting, along with Professors Deng Jun (Deputy Director of the Department of Information Management), Song Xueyan and Associate Professors Liu Jia and Shen Wang.

The meeting was chaired by the Asian-Pacific Chair of the iSchools Alliance, Dr. Joon Lee. The meeting started with each attending member sharing the latest development of their school. Professor Li introduced the history of the School of Management, and the achievements of the Discipline of Library Information and Archives Management of Jilin University in talent cultivation, faculty development, research and academics, social services, as well as international cooperation. He also talked about how the school looks forward to furthering collaboration with iSchools in terms of education, research collaborations, and academic exchanges.

The meeting confirmed Jilin University and Wuhan University as joint-hosts of the next AP-IS Biz meeting in 2021 to be held online.

Professor Li said that Jilin University, as a core iSchools member, will avail of its strengths to play an active role in the development of the organization. The AP-IS Biz Meeting marks another important step for the School of Management’s internationalization. It improved our relationships with other Asian-Pacific members in iSchools, providing more opportunities for future international cooperation.
